This article aims at making a comparative analysis of the procedures undertaken in Italy and Spain for the implementation of asymmetric regionalism. While on
the one hand Italy has recently initiated the proceeding envisaged by art. 116, par. 3 of Italian Constitution, on the other Spain represents the most advanced example of asymmetric regionalism. Therefore a comparison between the two systems may help dealing with some unresolved issues of the Italian process, such as the one concerning the role of Parliament and its power to unilaterally amend the legal texts agreed between the Government and the Regions involved.
