Abstract

The organization and parliamentary control of European intelligence agencies: what spaces for community intelligence cooperation? – The relationship between intelligence and law has always been in the balance between collaboration and opposition. Among the most significant points of connection, there are the organization of information agencies and the powers assigned to parliamentary control organisms also to protect the intelligence services themselves, which should not be thought of as a gray area of the law but, on the contrary, as an instrument of protection of national interests. The aim of the article is, therefore, to analyze the organization of the activities of the intelligence services in Italy, United Kingdom and France in order to compare the points of convergence and divergence and to understand the prospects for European cooperation. In an era characterized by ever-increasing complexity, intelligence activity represents a precious tool to understand the challenges related to the ongoing changes, the new logic of global power, economic and financial dynamics, and the need for transnational cooperation has become increasingly stringent.
