Abstract

This study explores how traditional fora can be redefined to develop effective strategies for addressing climate change. Given the current state of liberal democracies and the urgent need to respond to the climate crisis, new participatory tools are required to address environmental protection demands, particularly from youth movements. The paper analyzes the potential against climate change of two participatory tools: city assemblies and direct constitutional appeals. The research investigates how these tools can foster a sense of responsibility to uphold environmental principles. Finally, the feasibility of similar proposals within the Italian context is analyzed, drawing on the French and German experiences.
