Abstract

In the context of the crisis of multiculturalism and international terrorism, several countries have introduced or reinforced existing rules providing for citizenship revocation. The article discusses the problematic issues concerning those measures, with particular reference to their compliance with the right to citizenship and the principle of non-discrimination. It is argued that citizenship withdrawal powers should be subject to constitutional limits, according to the post-WWII idea of citizenship as an aspect of the international human rights theory, based on the principle of human dignity.
