Abstract: The new Cuban economic constitution: some innovations, many confirmations – While the Cuban Constitution approved in 2019 introduces some important innovations regarding the discipline of economic rights, the basic principles of the socialist State remain intact. In particular, the new economic constitution, if on the one hand recognizes private property, at the same time maintains most of the principles enshrined in the 1976 Constitution, including the predominance of State ownership of the means of production over any other form of property. Given this context, this paper questions how such opposing constitutional principles will coexist, as a new era of social and economic reform is about to begin.
