The present article focuses on the regional quality labels with indication of geographic origin, in
order to protect the quality of agricultural products. After an overview of the legal institution, the
Author dwells on the jurisprudence of the European Court of Justice (ECJ), from the Eggers case, to
understand the compatibility of the regional labels whit the Guidelines on State aid. It further
assesses the future of the Common Agricultural Policy.
