Abstract

The Assembly of Corsica has recently adopted a resolution containing specific proposals for the achievement of a statute of autonomy. This result has been encouraged by a clear nationalist majority within it and by some evidences from the national level which suggest that the time has probably come for an institutional evolution of the island in a truly autonomist direction. This paper, after outlining the current institutional framework of the Cullettività di Corsica, in the light of the main developments that have affected it, dwells on the reasons, method and main contents of the new request for autonomy, a first significant step of the ongoing process.
