L’emergenza sanitaria da Covid-19 nella Repubblica d’Irlanda. Strumenti giuridici per contrastare la pandemia e conseguenze problematiche sulla protezione dei diritti fondamentali

Abstract

The Covid-19 health emergency in the Republic of Ireland. Legal instruments to deal with the pandemic and related problems about the protection of fundamental rights – This paper aims to analyze the impact of the Covid-19 health emergency on the legal system of the Republic of Ireland. Similarly to what happened in almost all European States, the Dublin authorities approved hard measures in order to prevent the aforementioned pandemic from causing both sanitary and economic problems. In addition to that, major events, such as conferences and exhibitions were either cancelled or postponed. As a consequence, attention will be paid to the limits to fundamental liberties during this pandemic, including the threats to the free movement between Éire and Northern Ireland in order to reduce health risks.
