The historical evolution of the institutions of Albania and the Constitution of 1925 - The history of Albanian constitutional law, after the end of the centuries-old Ottoman domination, has been quite troubled, having passed through the legal form of the Principality to arrive at the parliamentary Republic, based on the Constitution of 1925. This Constitution, however ephemeral, has nevertheless introduced into the Albanian system of public law the principle of separation of powers, laying the foundations for the implementation of the rule of law, albeit with Balkan characteristics.
