The Constitution of the State of Puebla: some original features and federal influences
Abstract
The article explores the main features of the Constitution of Puebla State. An outline of Mexican federalism is that the subfederal entities has limited autonomy and their constitutions must borrow the provisions of the federal Constitution. Therefore they generally lack originality and the constitution of Puebla is not an exception. Nevertheless there are several aspects which can be considered peculiar like the regulation of family matters as well the mechanism of direct democracy. Some reflections are devoted to the indigenous peoples issues.
