The Latin America countries meet many hurdles in consolidating their democracy

Abstract

Many features help us understand the reasons why the democratization process has not completed yet in that area: the system of political parties, economic condition, populism, weak separation of powers, low literacy rate and the role of Presidents prevent to consolidate democracy. In order to implement democracy, an important role can be played by the international organizations which can act efficiently to hinder authoritarian shift.
