Abstract: A veil on the Constitution". The ban of facial concealment enters in Swiss Federal Constitution: a new challenge for European constitutional law? - The article explores the results of the vote on the popular initiative that led in March 2021 to the inclusion within the Swiss Federal Constitution of an article that prohibits the concealment of the face in public places. The origin of this provision, which today represents a unicum in the European constitutional panorama, is inspired by some previous experiences gained at the cantonal level and presents itself as an interesting case study not only for the observation of the relationship that may exists between the exercise of direct democracy and possible compression of minority rights but also for the developments that could determine, in terms of impact, on the future of European constitutional law.
