Abstract
This article illustrates the evolution of the tourism legislation from both an economic and a legal perspective. From the first point of view, its role as an engine of economic development is highlighted, while the second point of view underlines its nature as a transversal matter. Finally, the essay compares the articulation of the institutionalization of tourism in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece and Austria.
