The Role of WHO in the fight against Covid-19 Pandemic

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the role of WHO in the fight against Covid-19 as the main international body called to direct and coordinate international public health within the United Nations system. More specifically, that role will be seen in light of the framework of international organizations. After recalling the meaning and scope of the International Health Regulations (2005), the study focuses more closely on the WHO capacity to deal with the ongoing pandemic. As final remarks, the paper examines the role of WHO Member States in allowing to achieve statutory objectives.
