Abstract

This essay explores the Biden administration’s interactions with state governors, noting that, despite efforts at collaboration during the pandemic, federal-state relations were marked more by conflict than cooperation, especially on issues like public health, immigration, and law enforcement. Therefore, also the Biden presidency underscored once again the challenges of governing a deeply polarized nation.
