Abstract

The first chapter of the Commission’s report on the future of the United Kingdom states that the British economy is falling behind and public services are struggling; the people of Britain are losing confidence in the ability of the political system to deliver for them; only a serious and deep-rooted plan for the future can reverse Britain’s decline. This essay discusses the guiding principles of Labour’s proposals based on the link between economic crisis and constitutional reform.
