The article is an analysis of the legal provisions governing the establishment of the Office of the public prosecutor in the Kosovo judicial system. It explains the reasons for the establishment of a new prosecutorial body in the legal framework of Kosovo after the 1999 war. It goes through the law establishing the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, and governing the appointment procedure of the prosecutors, their status and the development of their careers. Then it analyses the operational powers of the prosecutors, underlining the differences between the Criminal procedural Code of Kosovo of 2003 and the updated version of 2013.
