The greatest challenge of contemporary environmental constitutionalism is to ensure effective protection of nature, biodiversity and the cultures and forms of life associated with them. This contribution seeks to highlight the potential that the concrete implementation by member states of the 2003 Unesco Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage can bring, on local and global scales, to many areas such as the conservation of biodiversity, the achievement of sustainable development goals, the management of natural resources, as well as the prevention of and even the response to potential natural disasters, also in the context of a renewed sensitivity of the Italian legislator after the reform of Article 9 of the Constitution on environmental protection.
