The dynamics of citizenship in the Microstates: the case of Liechtenstein - The essay deals with citizenship legislation in Liechtenstein, analysed in comparison with that in force in other European Microstates. The Author examines the reasons behind the alternation between restrictive and more inclusive approaches in status-granting and highlights how the intensification of migratory flows is paving the way for the approval of functional rules for the integration of foreigners, notwithstanding the survival of some historical peculiarities. This is witnessed, in particular, by the introduction of the “simplified procedure” for naturalization.
