Abstract

The present paper analyses the use of predictive algorithms in law enforcement and military settings from the perspective of international human rights law and international humanitarian law. In doing so, it relies on a two-fold approach: on the
one hand, it highlights the possible incompatibilities of the use of such technology with international norms; on the other hand, it stresses the importance of taking into account these same norms for the purpose of identifying a common accountability framework for the use of AI systems, including predictive algorithms.
