Abstract: Animal rights in a comparative perspective - The animal law refers to the legal rules aimed at regulating the relationships between animals and humans. The paper aims to recognize animal rights through the study of constitutional and private law of the most important Western Legal Tradition Countries, to verify whether it is possible to attribute legal subjectivity to animal beings. To verify this possibility, the essay will also take into consideration the main judgments issued in the field of animal law. Finally, the paper aims to ascertain whether animals, in addition to being rights holders, can also be subject to legal duties.
