Sri Lankan’s form of government has evolved into hyper-semi-presidentialism, through the strengthening of the role of the President, at the expense of the Prime Minister’s role and the Parliament’s one. This situation leads to verify the presence of counterweights which can be able to guarantee the substance of a democratic structure. In this regard, it is interesting to analyze the recent developments and debates about the changes of Constitution to strenghten the role of Parliament.
