Constitutional preambles: the role, functions and contents in Indian and Pakistani doctrine and jurisprudence - The study of constitutional preambles has recently aroused new interest in comparative law. Traditionally, the Preamble of the US Constitution and that of the French Constitution have been considered prototypes. However, the huge multiplicity of constitutional preambles highlights difficulties in classification and identification of a preamble pattern, which suggests moving the analysis towards the possible contents and functions. In this regard, the experience of South Asian legal systems gives the opportunity of a new approach on the role of constitutional preambles, their functions and contents.
