Abstract

Firstly, the essay deals with the evolution of the Libyan monarchy, from the proclamation of independence (1951) to the coup d’état (1969) leaded by Muammar Gaddafi’s Free Officers; then, it analyses the legacy of the Senussi dynasty during the Gaddafi era, and from his death (2011) until today.
