This short introduction to the conference session focuses on three key aspects of the relationship between law and other scientific disciplines in the context of environmental constitutionalism. Firstly, it highlights the capacity of the Italian Constitution to interconnect various provisions (such as those related to health, individual development, equality, and peace) that collectively demand a significant shift towards environmental protection. Secondly, the introduction focuses on the imperative to translate textual provisions into tangible and enforceable actions, thereby converting the law on the books into effective law in action. Thirdly, the paper puts forward a concept of evidence-based law, with the aim of enhancing its scientific underpinnings and legitimacy. In this regard, the conference session is introduced as a platform for exploring the intersection of law and other sciences in the context of environmental constitutionalism.
