Artificial Intelligence and Justice: Potentialities and Risks

  • Carlo Casonato

Abstract

After a brief introduction on the definition of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the article questions whether delivering justice could or should be entirely entrusted to AI itself. On the basis of technological, legal and ontological reasons, the article excludes this possibility, recalling how AI can instead usefully assist human judges in performing their function. The article ends by proposing a list of “human rights”, understood as those exercised by humans in order to maintain control over AI-assisted justice.

Keywords: Artificial Intelligence; Justice; Next Generation Human Rights.
