Abstract: The Brazilian Presidentialism put to the test by investigations and state budget crisis: observations on the impeachment against Dilma Rousseff – The impeachment process against Dilma Rousseff stressed the difficulty of Brazilian political system to face the social impact of Lava-Jato investigations and State budget deficit. Beyond the great concern for the economic growth, it should be highlighted the need for a new assessment of the government system. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the main phases of Dilma Rousseff's impeachment, the allegations, and the reasons for the removal. Finally, it is evident that the case presents a questionable usage of a constitutional guarantee to achieve factional interests, which ended up exasperating institutional and social tension.
