Abstract: This essay describes Brazil’s historical specificity in political communication. In fact, in spite of the country’s constitutional evolutions and its democratisation processes, the determining element that has always characterised the communicative processes of politics has been the so-called “coronelismo”, i.e. the relation of exchange between the public and private spheres, in favour of narrow local oligarchies. The management of the digital world has reproduced this link.
Keywords: Political communication; Coronelism; Boosted post; Candidate’s electoral life
