People’s Advocate: the Albanian Ombudsman

Abstract

This article analyses the institution and the role of the Albanian Ombudsman. The importance of People’s Advocate in a democratic society, and especially in a post communist country in transition as Albania is essential. In fact, the most important development of the new constitutional provision in the field of human rights protection is the regulation for the first time of the institution of the Ombudsman. The purpose of this essay is to investigate the implementation and the potentialities of the Office.
