Israel’s judicial reform between systemic criticalities and alarming prospects - The controversial reform of the judiciary system promoted by the government led by Benjamin Netanyahu comes just a few weeks before the November 2022 elections, at the outcome of which the Likud leader succeeded in the feat of forming the new executive, thanks to a coalition agreement with religious and nationalist parties. Thus, Benjamin Netanyahu’s sixth term of office sees a marked shift to the right, which from a political and constitutional point of view is already having its first setbacks. The paper proposes a specific focus on the problems related to the impact of this reform on Israel’s form of state and government, involving multiple constitutional profiles that risk marking an unprecedented authoritarian involution for this state experience.
