The decentralization in France and Italy during the health crisis: a comparative analysis – This contribution aims at understanding, from a comparative perspective, the impact of the health emergency on French and Italian regionalism. Through a particular focus on France, the purpose is to highlight how the management of the crisis was influenced by historical dynamics, as a result of a widespread reticence towards the recognition of a wider regional autonomy. The response to the pandemic - in both its French and Italian versions - has revived controversial debates concerning the role of local authorities in the overall state system and the lack of coordination between state actors.
