La proposta di riforma della Costituzione giapponese. Tentazioni nazionalistiche o ricerca dell’identità?
The Proposed Amendment to the Japanese Constitution. Nationalist Temptations or Search for a National Identity?
Abstract
The debate over the opportunity to reform the Japanese Constitution has been ongoing since the end of the Allied Occupation in 1952. However, also due to its complex revision mechanism, the Constitution has never been amended. The Liberal Democratic Par-ty has been working for several years on a comprehensive constitutional revision, imbued by references to nationalism and national identity. The aim of our analysis is to highlight the most controversial points of this proposal, which might have a deep impact on the rights and civil liberties in Japan.
