Abstract
The paper focuses on the civil unions between persons of the same sex comparing Germany and
Italy in relation to the principle of equality. In particular, the Author analyzes the article 1,
paragraph 20, of the Law No. 76 of May 20th 2016, that treats civil unions in the same way as
marriage. It further addresses the critical aspects of the article 1, paragraph 20.
