Abstract
The paper analyzes the Law no. 76 of May 20th 2016 concerning “Regulations on civil unions between persons of the same sex and discipline of cohabitation” that introduced in the Italian legal system the protection of same-sex unions. After examining the main differences between marriage (for different-sex couples) and civil union (for same-sex couples), the Author focuses on some critical aspects of cohabitation.
