From the Thames to the Rhine (via the Seine): Countries on the verge of a… government crisis – This article investigates the dynamics of political instability through an analysis of three emblematic cases that have marked the biennium 2024–2025: the United Kingdom, representing a peculiar instance of a majority government in crisis, and France and Germany, which exhibit the distinctive traits of governmental breakdown. By examining these three constitutional systems, the study seeks to assess whether governmental stability still constitutes a political value to be pursued, or whether, conversely, it has become necessary to adapt to a changed institutional context. The analysis also explores whether existing constitutional or electoral mechanisms are capable of preventing potential crises of instability or, at the very least, of managing the complex interplay of political and institutional dynamics.
