Interdisciplinarity can be considered a key topic in comparative method. The aim of this proposal is to deepen the methodological aspects by identifying three types of interdisciplinarity that can typically be referred to the comparative method: structural, generative and critical interdisciplinarity. Moreover, the essay will argue about the specific role that interdisciplinarity plays in minority studies, emphasizing both its potential and critical aspects. Does the method issue conceal a problem of approach? What are the tools and ‘proprium (if any)’of the comparative method in the field of minority rights? What are the limits of interdisciplinarity and what knowledge of other disciplines can be expected from a comparative law scholar?
Keywords: Interdisciplinarity; Method; Minorities; Cultural roots; Comparative constitutional law
