The paper aims to examine Chapter 7 of "A New Britain: Renewing our Democracy and Rebuilding our Economy. Report of the Commission on the UK’s Future," published in December 2022 by the Labour Party’s Commission on UK’s Future, chaired by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The proposal regarding local government includes increasing devolution of powers and assigns more responsibilities to local leaders, granting them regulatory and spending powers. The Commission proposes to create local partnerships in order to foster coordination among local authorities. Finally, it suggests involving citizens and building a system that takes into account local peculiarities to ensure greater productivity and homogeneous economic growth throughout the territory.
