Abstract: A first assessment of the impact of the liberalization of cross-border healthcare in Spanish healthcare system – The article analyses the Spanish health system
and its recent developments. Firstly, it focuses on the impact that the internal market and European competition rules have had on Spanish health care system. The analysis is then carried out on the consequences of this development on patient protection, on equality in access to care and on the role played by private healthcare providers.
