Abstract
The paper aims to examine the effects on the national legislations of the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights regarding the legal recognition of same-sex relationships on the basis of the European Convention of Human Rights. In particular, the article 8 (right to respect for family life) and the article 12 (right to marry and to found a family) in conjunction with the article 14 which provides that the enjoyment of the rights and freedoms shall be secured without discrimination. It further assess Chapin and Charpentier v. France and Oliari & Others v. Italy.
