Europe, Rule of law and independence of the judiciary power: the Spanish case of the Consejo General del Poder Judicial
Abstract
The Spanish General Council of the Judiciary that is currently in charge is the same that was elected in 2013. This situation is causing several damages not only to the guarantee of the independence of the judiciary power, but also to different bodies of the State. Although the numerous reminders and invitations of the European Institutions to provide measures that could let the Spain out of this institutional blockade, nothing seems to have changed. The aim of this article is to analyze the reasons that have let the CGPJ in this situation and the possible future perspectives.
