Abstract: EU Law and Statelessness in the Context of Migration Movements: the Missing Link of a Weak Chain – Stateless migrants are not duly protected by the laws of many Member States. This is also due to the lack of strict and wide-range international law obligations. In such a framework, the law of the European Union has failed to play a meaningful role. The present work analyzes the main legal shortages affecting stateless migrants at EU level by focusing in particular on the need for status determination procedures and rules concerning standards of treatment. The essay also contains some reflections on how
those issues may be tackled.
Keywords: European Union; UNHCR; statelessness; migrants; citizenship.
