Ethical and legal risks of Artificial Intelligence

  • Anna Monreale

Abstract

Nowadays, a wide variety of personal data, describing directly or indirectly individuals’ activities, are collected and available, due to the spread of different apps, sensors and mobile devices. The availability of such data opens unprecedented opportunities of developing AI systems exploiting those data to provide a wide range of benefits in different domains. Unfortunately, in a critical domain like healthcare and justice the development and the application of AI systems can rise many
ethical and legal concerns. This article discusses the ethical and legal implication in terms of privacy and transparency, also providing an overview on the different approaches to ethics across the world.
