Abstract

The role of local authorities in the protection of linguistic minorities in regional states. Italy and Spain compared – The present contribution aims to analyze concurrently the italian and spanish experiences on the protection of linguistic minorities in their respective decentralized legal systems. Specifically, the central and local choices aimed at preserving the cultural linguistic fabric in Trentino and Alto Adige (Italy), and in Catalonia (Spain) will be highlighted, with particular emphasis on the phenomenon of “Inmersion lingüistica” with respect to Spain. The analysis will be carried out according to a diachronic and synchronic perspective.
